Stevens Ideal "Walnut Hill" Rifle No. 49 #
1085 very early model with
Stevens scope. The
28 inch half round/octagon heavy barrel is chambered for 32-40. It
also sports the standard
anterior Globe and
posterior vernier
ladder tang peep site. Interior condition of the barrel is excellent
and exterior of barrel and scope show honest wear- certainly not
abused. The well
scroll engraved 44 1/2 falling block action retains faded
case colors and a closed loop lever. The semi-fancy walnut pistol
grip stock has most off its original finish as the fine checkering
and its Swiss type butt plate and high cheek piece. This Steven
model is the most sought after and often requested by single shot
competitors and enthusiasts. $6500 |

A H Fox DE Special
#202273 Upgrade from an original A H Fox AE 20 bore to a
DE Special by the best American gunsmiths in the trade. Barrels are
28 inches with original 2 1/2 inch chambers and a wide matt rib. The
stock is also upgraded with a highly figured piece of walnut and
well executed fleur de lys styled checkering. It measures 14 1/4x1
1/2x2 1/4x0 cast to an original Fox butt plate. It also sports two
triggers and weighs 5-12. Many of these are available today as a
reproduction of the original A H Fox but few are Philadelphia
Foxes with factory letter from the Fox historian John Callahan.
Should be worth as much as a reproduction if not substantially more.

Tom Morrow American
Custom Rifle #119389 by Tom Morrow of Freedom, New
Hampshire, An extrordinary magazine rifle built on an original 1936
magnum double square bridge Oberndorf Mauser action as a 9.3x64
Brenneke. The one piece 24 inch Wells barrel with 1/3 rib were
fitted with a five leaf (1 standing-4 folding) express rear sight
and banded belt loop and front ramped blade sight with folding hood.
The rib has retention grooves to mount an extended eye relief scope
if desired. This leaves the original Mauser action free of any
alterations such as mounting holes or
engraving and retains its value. The action was fitted with a
Blackburn bottom metal
and trigger guard, all of which was English small scroll engraved by
Simon Litton of Purdeys. A gold inlay of a lion rests on the trigger
guard. All accessories other than the action sport some small scroll
engraving. The exhibition grade walnut stock with horn fore end tip
measures 14 1/4 inches to a checkered butt with buffalo horn heel
and toe protectors. The full pistol grip has a trap door case
colored and engraved grip cap. The butt stock has a belt loop and a
shadow cheek piece for right hand shooter. The total weight of the
rifle without the scope and mounts is 9-2. Excellent quality rifle
(check photos) built by a master at the peak of his career in a
canvas and leather case. $9800
